Osimertinib After Chemoradiotherapy Shows Manageable Safety in NSCLC – Targeted Oncology

In November 2015, a prescription drug targeting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutations (especially the T790M mutation) received accelerated approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the first time. It should be used only as directed by a doctor.

Osimertinib is a third-generation irreversible epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). It is currently the first-line treatment for advanced lung cancer with EGFR-sensitive mutations and the second-line treatment for lung cancer with T790M mutations after first- or second-generation TKI therapy. The median progression-free survival (PFS) is 18.9 months and 10.1 months, respectively, bringing hope to some patients with advanced lung cancer.
